This "Read Me" file contains information on "Word Search" and details on how to register your copy.
I know most people simply scan these read me files but I would stronly suggest that you print it and read this file carefully to avoid any problems or delay in registering your copy of the program.
"Word Search" creates word searches (now there's a surprise!).
Unlike other such programs, however, this one has the following features:-
• Create square searches from 8 X 8 up to 32 X 32.
• Create searches in any user defined shape on a 32 X 32 matrix.
• Up to 100 words can be inserted into each word search (depending, of course, on size of the search and the length of the words)
• Use any font and size (from 9 point up to 30 point) for the words and the word search in the printed output.
• Words can be placed in the word search to read in any of the eight possible directions. The user has full control over which directions are used.
• Full control over spacing of the letters of the word search in the printed output.
• Full control over spacing between the rows of words in the printed output.
• Full control over the title at the top of the printed output page.
• Full control over the instruction text on the printed output.
• Words can be printed in a coded form with a key to allow the user to decode them.
• Words can be printed in scrambled form (anagrams).
• A cheat sheet may be printed showing the position of the words in the grid and the direction in which they are read.
• The words and word search may be exported for inserting into a word processor.
System Requirements
Any AppleMac running under System 7 or greater and having a minimum display of 640 x 480 pixels
Limitations of unregistered copy
In the unregistered version of "Word Search" the save facility has been disabled and you may only print searches of size 8 X 8 apart from that all other features are complete.
Registering
Paying of the shareware fee, and thus registering your copy, will provide you with a registration code which will, of course, give you full access to all of the program.'s features.
Prices
"Word Search" has the following pricing structure.
Single user licenses, $15 per user
A Site License costs $450 (equal to 30 users) and covers unlimited users at all locations of your organisation within the site named on your registration application. One big advantage of a Site License is that you do not need to keep track of how many people at your site are using the software.
A World-Wide License costs $1800 and it covers all locations for your organisation on the planet Earth.
Paying for registration
Kagi, in Berkeley, California, handles my payment processing and the issuing of registration codes on a world wide basis. (UK costomers see also below).
Paying for "Word Search" is fairly simple. Open the "Register WS" program that accompanies "Word Search". Enter your name, (see below for important information on names) your e-mail address, and the number of single user licenses you desire (or Site or World-Wide license). Save, Copy or Print the data from the "Register WS" program and send the data and payment to Kagi using one of the methods outlined below.
Paying by e-mail
If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can e-mail or fax the data to Kagi. Their e-mail address is sales@Kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589.
You can either Copy the data from "Register WS" and paste into the body of an e-mail message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an e-mail message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just print the data to the Kagi fax number.
Payments sent via e-mail are processed within 3 to 4 days. You will receive an e-mail acknowledgement and the registration code when it is processed. Payments sent via fax take up to 10 days and if you provide a correct internet e-mail address you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement and the registration code.
Paying by cash
If you are paying with cash or USD cheque you should print the data using the "Register WS" application and send it to the address shown on the form, which is:

You can pay with a wide variety of cash from different countries but at present if you pay via cheque, it must be a cheque drawn in US Dollars. Kagi cannot accept cheques in other currencies, the conversion rate for non-USD cheques is around USD 15 per cheque and that is just not practical.
If you have a purchasing department, you can enter all the data into the "Register WS" program and then select Invoice as your payment method. Print three copies of the form and send it to your accounts payable people. You might want to highlight the line that mentions that they must include a copy of the form with their payment.
Kagi can not invoice your company, you need to act on my behalf and generate the invoice and handle all the paperwork on your end.
Please do not fax or e-mail payment forms that indicate cash, cheque or Invoice as the payment method. As far as we know, there is still no technology to transfer physical objects via fax or e-mail and without the payment, the form cannot be processed.
Payments send via postal mail take time to reach Kagi and then up to 10 days for processing. Again, if you include a correct e-mail address, you will hear from Kagi when the form is processed.
If you do not have an e-mail address, please enter your complete postal address and please remember, we do not know what country you live in so please enter that into the postal address also.
If you do not have an e-mail address you should select the Postcard Receipt so that Kagi can inform you of your registration code. Kagi transmits the registration codes via e-mail and paid postcard receipt only. Please note that Kagi charge an additional $1 for the postcard receipt.
UK costomers only
Whilst I would prefer that you use the Kagi system for registering, UK costomers may, if they wish, pay directly to me (at the address below), in pounds sterling, by cheque or cash only.
Non UK costomers must use Kagi to register.
You should note that any application for registration, received by me at the address below, from countries other than the UK, will be returned unprocessed.
If you do live in the UK and you choose this method of paying then please advise me of your e-mail address to allow me to send the registration code or, if you do not have an e-mail address, then please ensure that your full postal address is included to allow me to send details by postcard. Please note that I charge an additional one pound sterling for the postcard receipt.
In any case your name, of course, should also be included! (see below for important information on names)
Please note that cheques must be cleared by the bank before the registration code is forwarded to you. This clearing process can take from 3/5 days depending on when the cheque is lodged with the bank so please allow up to 14 days from date of you posting your cheque for the return of the registration code by postcard. I will, of course, try to ensure that you receive the code as quickly as possible. Please include an e-mail address if at all possible.
The current sterling prices are
Single user :- 10 pounds sterling
Site license:- 300 pounds sterling
World wide license:- 1200 pounds sterling
Postcard receipt:- 1 pound sterling.
Upgrades
Upgrade from "Word Search Creator V1.X.X" :- 5 pounds sterling, plus 1 pound sterling for postcard receipt if required. (Name and address must match that held by me on my database of "Word Search Creator V1.X.X" registered users).

Important Information on names
The name supplied by you is the basis for the calculation of the registration code. I am aware that names from countries other than English speaking countries may contain characters, accents etc. out with the range of normal English characters. You should be aware that it is possible for these characters to be "lost" when transmitted by e-mail and, in some cases, to cause the entire message to become garbled. You must, therefore, choose a registration name that contains only the set of printable characters which are universally accepted. These are shown below.

Length of name
The name supplied must be at least three characters in length and no longer than fifty characters in length. Extra characters will be removed.
No name?
If you fail to supply a suitable name (e.g. no name or a name of less than three characters in length) then a twenty character "name" constructed from random characters will be used as the basis of the registration code.
Name for site license
If you are ordering a site license then please use the name of the site rather than the name of an individual. e.g. "New Apple High School"
Name for World Wide license
If you are ordering a world wide license then please use your company name.
